BreathingCloset  was recently featured on  The Faux Fashionista blog. The  owner of the blog is a fashion enthusiast who just came back to KL after an enviable internship with the luxury brand Bally in New York City.

In this blog entry, the writer put together a chic ensemble for the office, featuring a gorgeous pleated front dress from BreathingCloset.

Carolina Herrera

Above: The sexy librarian look makes a comeback at Carolina Herrera. Who would have thought conventional cardigans could look so delicious?

When I saw this cocktail dress in polka dots, I thought "how brilliant!".

White dresses are seen everywhere. The blue flowers on this one however pop up in a delightful way, making it one of the most memorable white dresses this season.

Doo.Ri

At Doo.Ri, the most memorable ones, in my opinion, are also the most
commercial. Very trendy, very in, such as the voluminous tops and the high-waisted bottoms. Very GAP-like, don't you think?

Diane von Furstenberg

Power suits in prints? Why not - if you are in the right industry. Here DVF shows what she does best; dressing women who are driven to succeed. Double hooray to DVF for assuring us that it is perfectly okay to be career-successful and ultra fashionable at the same time.

The S/S 2008 shows continue to shine - perfect tribute to the beauty of Spring and Summer - with many demure yet incredibly sexy looks. My spotlight definitely goes to Donna Karan who pulled the hems down this season, with both flowy full skirts and pencil skirts that fall below the knee. Feminine figures are also very much celebrated, with more cinched waists and plunging necklines.

At Betsey Johnson - another personal favourite of mine - the girls looked like they could fit right in Grease - the prom scene. With lots of voluminous full skirts and colours that Barbie would certain approve of, Betsey Johson delivered a more whimsical and slightly more youthful show as compared to the SS shows last year.

As for Marc Jacobs...the dude did it again! As Style.com noted, the looks are all too eclectic to categorize but one thing stands consistent; the polished eccentricity that we all love in MJ clothes. Highly recommended for the artsy fartsy.

Coffee, pyjamas, indie folk music. These were what I lived in this weekend - ironically - in celebration of the beginning of the Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear shows in NYC.  Underdressed, with zero makeup and hair pulled up in a lazy ponytail, I was served with a mixed-bag of glitz, legs, defined waists and lots of Ava Gardnerism.

Here are some of my top picks;

Blog EntryKate Moss A/W 2007 for TopShopSep 7, '07 11:01 AM
for everyone

Seriously, I have never been much of a Kate The Supermodel fan. Even when she signed the deal with Topshop, I watched with much cynicism.

No doubt her personal style radiates edge and epitomises all things cool, but as the popular sa
ying goes, "What does not look good on Kate Moss?" Plus, Kate Moss practically lives in high fashion. Her face literally sells millions of dollars worth of fashion publications. Designers dig the chick because she sells their clothes well.

Can someone so highly involved in high fashion squeeze her essence for the regular masses?

Fortunately, yes. When the Kate Moss line arrived at Topshop KL, I was pleased to see many wearable, classy pieces. Gorgeous tunics, well-designed jeans and chic blouses. The 2007 A/W collection too seems to have been carefully thought of. I especially love the tea dress with clove prints, the schoolboy trousers, the green  one-shoulder dress and the beaded camisole top.

So I approve Kate Moss for TopShop and can hardly wait for the A/W arrivals to make their way to Topshop MidValley (my favourite Topshop outlet in KL).

New at Net-a-Porter is this gorgeous silk-blend trapeze dress by Jodi Arnold, a New York based designer who designs under the name MINT Jodi Arnold.

The prints are irresistible; print-loving KLites would appreciate the multi but complementary hues. Surely a lot of thought (and LOVE) has been given to the design of this dress, testimony to which is the dramatic back, with its self-tie and pleated details.

Priced at nearly RM2500 (after conversion), it is nearly an impossible dress to purchase.

But oh well. Lovely piece to look at and draw inspiration from!

Blog Entry70s Print Jersey Dress (BLUE)May 28, '07 2:27 AM

CODE: 6050

70s Print Jersey Dress (BLUE)

SIZE: FREE (S-M)
Shoulder-shoulder:13.5 inches
Bust: 32 to 34 inches
Armhole (diameter): 8 inches
Length: 34.5 inches

70s Print Jersey Dress
o Full sleeves
o Cool, slinky, easy to care jersey material
o Funky 70s print
o Plunging v-neck
o Stretchable
o Falls above knee

This quirky, eye-catching dress epitomizes the aggressive fashion cycles of the 70s. I love the loud prints simply for the reason that it requires little other accessorizing. The material is also cooling – hence absolutely suitable for the humid weather (don’t we all just love weather-conscious fashion?).

HOW TO WEAR
When wearing loud prints, the general rule of thumb is to keep everything else minimal. Wear this with pumps or kitten heels in neutral shades and simple designs. A classic, oversized tote (in white, tan or black) complements the look. Experiment with patent leather accessories for extra edge.

PRICE: RM39.90 / SGD25.90 (postage incl.)
POSTAGE: RM5.00 (Poslaju-Peninsular Msia)

CODE: 6037

Chiffon Grecian Style Dress

SIZE: FREE (S-M)

Bust: 32 – 36 inches

Under bust - 28

Length – 34 inches

Flowy sleeves

  • Self-tie chiffon belt
  • White lining
  • Black spaghetti strap NOT included.
  • No zip
  • Brand new without tags
  • Two pieces available!

Grecian-dress lovers take note! I absolutely love this dress. Thank the flowy sleeves for hiding un-fabulous arms (“But my gym pass expired!!!”) the thick waistband for hiding un-fabulous abs. Very feminine, very womanly, very should-be-in-your-closet.

HOW TO WEAR

This dress does not come with any slip/spaghetti strap/tube top. So, use your own imagination and pair the dress with any of your favourite slips (add spice with a laced spaghetti strap). Accessorize well with chandelier earrings OR long vintage necklaces. For evening events, diamante heels go great with this dress. As the dress is not printed, you may go a little funky with the footwear. For day events, just pair with solid colour pumps.

Vintage Print Mini Dress (PINK)

SIZE: FREE (S-M)

Bust: 32-34 inches

Waist: 36 inches max

Length: 35 inches

Shoulder: 11.5 inches

Sleeves diameter: 6 inches

  • Buttoned (faux pearls) neck
  • Lace details at collar and bust
  • Slightly puffed sleeves
  • No zip, no lining
  • Brand new without tags

The design of this dress reminds me so muchh of my childhood days. I am not sure if it is the laced front or the faux pearl buttons or the beautiful flower-motif prints but the dress sure gives a hint of childlike playfulness. Plus, 60s mini dresses such as this one is all the rage this Spring!
